What is Forest Preschool?
Forest Preschool is an innovative approach to early childhood education that immerses young learners in the natural world. Nature-Based Learning
Children spend the majority of their time outdoors, regardless of weather, engaging with the environment in a way that promotes physical, emotional, and cognitive development. The natural world serves as an ever-changing, dynamic classroom where children learn through direct interaction with their surroundings. This immersive experience helps children develop a deep connection to nature, fostering environmental stewardship and a lifelong respect for the planet.
Child-Led Exploration
Our curriculum is flexible and child-centered, allowing children's interests and curiosity to guide their learning experiences. Our PDX Forest Preschool is a half-day program, 9 am - 1 pm, with 2, 3, and 5 day enrollment options for children aged 3-5. We provide a gentle transition from home to an educational setting where nature nurtures confidence and ignites a love of learning. Our thoughtfully crafted seasonal curriculum encourages learning through play, exploration, and discovery. Each day at our preschool includes activities such as:
